Join us on Thurs 20 Feb on a march in Ipswich to shine a light on violence against women and girls.
The Students’ Union at the University of Suffolk will be organising a Reclaim the Night march to take place next February, with the aim of shining a light on violence again women and girls.
The march, which is scheduled for Thursday 20 February 2025, was launched as part of the 16 days of action at a White Ribbon awareness event held at the university on the waterfront on Wednesday 4 December.
UoS Students’ Union Women’s Officer Shannon Priestley said: “Too often women and girls are worried to go out at night, to enjoy themselves, because they are concerned about the threat of violence. Our march is designed to be empowering for them, but also to remind men that violence and abuse is never acceptable. Everyone is welcome to join us in our campaign – more details will be on the UOSSU website and social media nearer the time.”
The Reclaim the Night march will be one part of a Students’ Union campaign over the next few months which will include events, social media campaigns and fundraising to support local women’s charities and raise awareness amongst the student population about women’s safety issues.
